May 20, 2019 -  We were honored to have two of our scholarship recipients and all four of our RYLA attendees attend our lunch meeting.  Pictured from left to right:  scholarship recipients; Carissa Weber ($2000 scholarship, plans to attend UW LaCrosse School of Agriculture and study Biochemistry or Biology), Hunter Warzecha ($7000 recipient, plans to attend UW Madison, School of Business), RYLA attendees; Emma MeicherKelsey CervantesShelby Blau and Abagail Zellmer.  The RYLA attendees learned about team building, the struggles to get fresh water in some countries, Rotary's work around the world and so much more.  They hope to bring back all they learned and apply it in the various groups they belong to.  The $1000 scholarship recipient, Mary Kate Shlimovitz was not in attendance.

Congratulations to our 2019 Scholarship Recipients and the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) attendees! Every year Portage Rotary awards $10,000 in scholarships:  $7000 to a student attending a 4-year college, $2000 to a student attending to a 2-year college and $1000 to a student attending Madison College.  We also fund four sophomore students to attend RYLA camp, which is a leadership training program for young people.  It's designed to build future leaders and Rotarians who exemplify the four-way test:

Is it the truth?
Is it fair to all concerned?
Will it build good will and better friendships?
Will it be beneficial to all concerned.
